For over 50 years, Barry captured the spirit of the landscapes he loved through paint and pastels. His work is a celebration of the beauty found in nature, its light, textures, vibrant colors, and the ever-changing sky. Later in life, when disability narrowed what Barry could do, he reconnected with his art. With paintbrush in hand, Barry could move again.

Barry's travels through the west were a constant source of inspiration. He would come home inspired to paint after every journey, working to preserve the fleeting light and form he encountered and embellishing them with his signature style: dynamic brushwork, vivid skies, and whimsical clouds. Barry's wild vistas feel a half-step dreamlike, a magical realism of the west.

We are reminded of his resilience when we look at his work, and we are grateful that he left us this invitation to share in the wonder and wildness of the places that inspired him.
